Haiti is facing a severe humanitarian crisis caused by multiple factors: political instability, violence perpetrated by organized criminal groups, and recurring natural disasters. According to UNDP estimates, around 5.5 million people are currently without humanitarian assistance.
The population—especially the most vulnerable groups—is the most affected by this crisis. IOM data reports a 22% increase in internally displaced persons, with a total of 702,973 people forced to leave their homes. In the Metropolitan Area of Port-au-Prince (ZMPAP), a significant portion of these displaced individuals (61%) are living in makeshift shelters, worsening the area's poverty levels.
In this context, healthcare services—particularly maternal and child healthcare—are critically insufficient, as are water and sanitation infrastructures. That’s why, thanks to your support, we have taken action to provide concrete aid to the Haitian population.
The project aims to improve living conditions for displaced people in two sites within the Municipality of Tabarre, ZMPAP. Activities will be flexible to respond to the needs of displaced persons and will focus in particular on: protecting the most vulnerable individuals, operating a mobile clinic to detect and treat severely malnourished children, providing psychological support to victims of violence, and promoting community meetings to strengthen social cohesion.
Together with you, we will help 1,000 Haitians change the course of their lives!
