Together with the students from Ticino against the recruitment of child soldiers.
The drama of child soldiers was at the centre of the workshop led by COOPI Suisse during the 7th World Peace Forum, a day of spreading information and raising awareness on themes of peace and solidarity that every year witnesses the participation of hundreds of students from the local schools. In addition to learning about the dramatic life of child soldiers, during the workshop the students were able to give their active contribution to the "Red Hand Campaign": hundreds of sheets with the imprint of a red hand are delivered every year to the authorities throughout the world on the occasion of World Day against the Use of Child Soldiers, on the 12th of February, to demand that this aberrant practice is definitively abolished.
The students who participated left us with 150 "red hands" which were then sent to the Swiss Federal Councillor Ignazio Cassis - a way to exercise their right to peacefully disagree and experience the lights and shadows of being part of a global and interconnected world at an early age.
