In Mali 1 in 4 children suffer from stunting due to malnutrition, 1 in 5 children are underweight and 1 in 10 children suffer from severe malnutrition.
The causes of childhood malnutrition are multiple: limited food available, there is little water and often it is not clean, it is difficult to guarantee adequate hygiene levels, in these environments, children suffer from many diseases, very often mothers do not know the right practices of breastfeeding and food preparation.
For this reason, the fight against malnutrition must be considered among the strategies that bring together food security, improvement of health services, access to drinking water, ensuring substantial and sustainable results.
The direct beneficiaries are 10,422 children with severe acute malnutrition, 10,422 mothers of children, 65 health facilities.
The indirect beneficiaries are 153.000 children screened for Acute Malnutrition in the Health Districts (HD) of Ségou and Barouéli
The duration of the project is from June 2020 to January 2021.
