The Chadian capital N'Djamena has become the destination for many children originating from rural areas, all at risk of being trafficked or other irregular violations of their fundamental rights due to the difficult socio-political surrounding.
To protect all these children and prevent them from being abused and enslaved, it is of fundamental importance to develop and strengthen local reception facilities and make them able to function over time.
The local structures of the capital lack the technical and financial capacity for the psycho-social care of children and do not receive any support from the State.
The COOPI Suisse project has helped two associations, Dieu Bénit and SOS Village, strengthening the managerial and technical skills of the staff. In particular, the training activities were carried out on two levels: administrative and managerial training aimed at staff and managers of the two structures and training sessions aimed at reinforcing the psychological support given to the animators of the structures.
As early as in 2013, COOPI Suisse supported a project for the reception and school reintegration of 200 unaccompanied minors and for the institutional reinforcement of the local partner FAFED - Fondation d´Amour pour la Formation des Enfants en Détresse, a reception center in the capital N'Djamena. With this project COOPI Suisse continues to support vulnerable children in Chad.
Direct beneficiaries are 31 people who could participate and benefit from the psycho-social training program and 12 people in Administration and Management, or the staff of the two reception facilities. The indirect beneficiaries are the reception facilities of the capital N'Djamena and the city's most vulnerable children.
On site COOPI Suisse collaborates with COOPI Chad, in partnership with the local NGOs Dieu Bénit and SOS Villages d 'Enfants Tchad, both engaged for some time (respectively 6 and 12 years) in defending children rights in N'Djamena.
The project was carried out thanks to the support of the donors of COOPI Suisse.
Implementation period January - June 2018
